Dr. Claudio Naranjo wurde 1932 in Chile geboren. Seiner frühen Ambition als Pianist folgte ein Medizinstudium und die Ausbildung zum Psychiater.

Nachdem er Anfang der 60er Jahre als Stipendiat in Harvard und Berkeley im Bereich der Persönlichkeitspsychologie forschte, führte sein Weg ihn an das Esalen Institut, wo er Nachfolger von Fritz Perls, dem Begründer der Gestalttherapie, wurde.

Der plötzliche Tod seines Sohnes 1970 bedeutete einen Wendepunkt in seinem Leben. Er begegnete in dieser Zeit Oscar Ichazo, von dem er die Grundlagen zum Enneagramm erhielt.

In den Jahren darauf traf er auf zahlreiche spirituelle Lehrer wie Idries Shah und Tarthang Tulku Rimpoche, bei dem er den tibetischen Buddhismus studierte. Zusammen mit Bob Hoffman erarbeitete er die moderne Form des “Hoffman Prozesses”.

Darüber hinaus entwickelte er sein Programm zur persönlichen Transformation und zum psycho-spirituellen Wachstum, welches unter dem Namen “SAT” (“seekers after truth”  Suchende nach der Wahrheit) bekannt wurde.

Seine über 200 Bücher und Publikationen sind in zahlreiche Sprachen übersetzt.
